Well done to everyone yesterday who graded. Standard was again very very high with lots of big marks being achieved.

The stand out performer of the day was Dean but as Sensei Cailey said, it was a close run thing. About time too Dean! His last grading was back in 2016 so a step up the ranks was long overdue.

I’d also like to give a couple of nods to the following people:

Des – for not stopping until he heard “Yame” from Sensei Cailey. In my view, that was the absolute correct thing to have done. Remember you are in a grading situation, you should be sharp and on it at all times. Until told so, you should expected to be ready to deal with an attack from somewhere.

Sonia – for coming up to me after her grading and saying she wasn’t fully satisfied with her performance. She actually did great, but showing me that she wasn’t fully happy with it shows me she really cared about it. She can use this feeling to go on and improve and sharpen her skills even more for the next grade.

Giorgio – pretty much the same reason as above!

I don’t doubt that you all probably felt the same, the above three stuck in my head because I happened to spot them. But it is very heartening and encouraging to know that you are not satisfied with the mistakes you made during the grading yesterday and want to wipe them out going forward!

Very well done all!
